HBO NOW is a standalone service of a renowned American network HBO that does not need any introduction. The service allows subscribers on-demand access to HBO's library of original programs, films and other content on personal computers, smartphones, tablet devices and digital media players. However, it does not require a US cable subscription and is available in several countries. Yet, its original American content can only be accessed from inside the United States and certain US territories.

On May 27, 2020, WarnerMedia (which is the owner of HBO) launched HBO Max – a successor to HBO NOW that additionally incorporates a broad range of content from other WarnerMedia properties and third-party content providers. All HBO NOW subscribers are migrated to the new service at no additional cost.

HBO NOW (just like other HBO-related services) is geo-restricted and its content is not available outside the US. Although HBO NOW was mostly directed to cord-cutters, if you travel abroad or simply stay in a different country, you are not able to stream any of its vast content. With Getflix Smart DNS, the problem may be fixed within minutes.

How to watch HBO NOW outside the US with Smart DNS

The first thing that you need to do is sign up with Getflix for a 14-day free trial. It’s quick, easy, no credit card details are necessary and you have two weeks to test our service. Next, you have to configure the device of your choice for Smart DNS. The process is quite simple and does not require any additional software or knowledge.

Alternatively, you can set up your home router which will allow all your home network devices to access geo-located services like HBO from anywhere in the world. There are many other channels that Getflix supports which can be accessed with Smart DNS. The list of those channels can be found here. Setting up the router is slightly more complicated but if you stumble upon any troubles, you can contact us for help or refer to our Knowledge Base.

Smart DNS is a perfect solution as it does not change your original IP (it simply takes part of your traffic via a dedicated server which allows you to access both geo-restricted services and your local websites at the same time). Nor does it affect your speed so you don’t need to worry about ever-lasting buffering of your favorite shows.

Another smart way to circumvent geo-restrictions is Smart VPN. This technology is a bit more sophisticated than Smart DNS as it redirects your entire Internet traffic through a server located in the country of destination changing your IP and leaving you completely safe and anonymous. Your data is fully encrypted which makes it virtually invisible for anyone trying to pry into your online activities from the outside (be it a curious ISP or a hacker trying to steal your passwords).

Smart VPN may not only access HBO NOW outside the US but also secure your connection so that you can safely use it over unprotected open Wi-Fi networks which are scattered around thousands of public areas (hotels, parks, cafes, libraries, airports, etc.). No one will snatch your banking app credentials or a valuable file sent over your business email. Once you become our regular user, your connection is safe and anonymous. Join us, stay with us and use our entire potential tailored exactly according to your needs.
